You've probably heard by now that Britney Spears shaved her head. Whether you believe that she did it because of a nervous breakdown (according to the gossip columns) or for "therapeutic reasons" (according to her manager), is entirely your choice. Regardless of why she did it, the hair is gone - unless you're willing to pay for it. The owners of the hair salon where Britney lost her locks collected the hair and have put it up for sale on eBay. The bid is up to $1,000,100 so far, and there are two days left to go.

The Top 30 Celebrity eBay Auctions of 2006 (FINISH)

21. George Clooney's Batman cape
Hey ladies. The Cloon's cape was up for grabs on eBay this year. Never mind the film itself, feel the memorabilia...

23.Paris Hilton's half-eaten Smarties
Ew, that's just like, so gross

24. Ashley Cole and Cheryl Tweedy's paparazzi-beating bedsheet

The footballing/pop marriage of the year (i.e. a feast of tack) was also notable for the high-tech methods employed by the couple to stop paparazzi from snapping photos of guests. A big sheet. And then it got sold on eBay

25. Nicollette Sheridan's bling ring
No, not the one given to her by Michael Bolton. How is she supposed to live without that? No, this one was given to Desperate Housewife Nicollette by her agent, and promptly flogged on eBay to raise money for The Animals. As in wildlife, not the popular 60s Brit beat combo

The Top 30 Celebrity eBay Auctions of 2006(V)

14. Carmen Electra's Baywatch swimsuitDoes anyone still remember Baywatch? Other than The Hoff, I mean, who'll still be trying to get a movie version green-lighted in 2012, I daresay. Anyway, Carmen's red swimsuit was up for grabs this year

15. Nirvana's old dining chairs Here we are now. Entertain us. And give us something comfy to park our arses on while you're doing it, cheers

16. Britney Spears and Paris Hilton psyche drawings (left)At the time, these drawings looked like the work of a mentalist, claiming to give an insight into the "psyche and manifestations" of Britney'n'Paris. And nothing has changed – they still look like the work of someone who's four padded walls short of a locked room

17. Stingray signed by Steve Irwin Terrible irony here. Steve signed a toy stingray, THEN IT KILLED HIM. Well, the toy one didn't, obviously. But you know what I mean.

18. Charlie Sheen's home gym I was shocked to discover Charlie Sheen HAD a home gym, to be honest. Although not so shocked to find it being sold on eBay in "like-new" condition

19. Michael Jackson trial juror notebooks .Are you really allowed to sell your notebooks from a high-profile trial of a King Of Pop? I'm not sure if eBay let this auction run its course, actually, so (ahem) the jury's still out on that question,

20. Angelina Jolie's dental cast .Taken when she was just 16, by a make-up/FX artist who'd been commissioned to make Angelina some vampire fangs for a theatrical role. The seller even threw in a set of replica fangs too

The Top 30 Celebrity eBay Auctions of 2006(IV)

10. Elvis Presley's coathanger of death
Sounds more impressive than it is. It's the coathanger used to transport Elvis' funeral suit to the morgue where his body was being kept in 1977. Sensationalist? Moi?

11. Jim Reeves' evil clock
This was the post that first got your Nan excited about Bayraider. Why evil? It's got proper tusks in it, which were probably ripped from the still-warm carcass of a lovely cute baby elephant with flappy ears and everything.

12. Suri Cruise's first poo! In bronze! (right)
Are we expected to believe that the first time Baby Suri curled one out, there was a sculptor in attendance to immortalise it in bronze? Well, no. Not least because it's way too solid for a newborn, as any fule parent kno. Instead, it's an 'artist's impression' (i.e. a good way to get in the papers).

13. Marvin Gaye's stage-worn smoking jacket
The ultimate eBay auction for budding lounge lizards. Be warned, you won't get away with wearing it and using chat-up lines involving the phrase 'sexual healing'. Especially down the local Yates' Wine Bar

The Top 30 Celebrity eBay Auctions of 2006(III)

7. Freddie Mercury's old car I can't imagine Freddie Mercury actually driving a car like us mere mortals. Surely he had someone to drive it for him, so he could recline in the back seat snorting cocaine off a dwarf's silver tray. Or whatever it was he did in those days.

8. An African orphan just like what Madonna got (left)Well, not exactly like Baby David, if I'm honest. This one was a bit more, well, furry. And hand-stitched. But otherwise just the same.

9. Paris Hilton's knickers Yes, I thought she'd stopped bothering with underwear too. Maybe it's the anti-no-undies backlash! Maybe

The Top 30 Celebrity eBay Auctions of 2006(II)

4. Myleene Klass' white bikini (right)As seen (repeatedly) in reality show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Usually while the singer was showering. Although when the alternative is David Gest's hairy man-boobs, we don't blame the producers.

5. Michael Jackson immortalised in wood Because even a really dodgy hand-carved statue can't look anywhere near as freaky as the man himself.

6. Frank Sinatra's wig Even then, when the end was near, he parted it his way.

The Top 30 Celebrity EBay Auctions of 2006(I)

It's the end of the year, so what better time to take stock of Bayraider's favourite celeb auctions from the past 12 months? Especially as it'll give me time to nip down to Woolworths and finish my Christmas shopping.

Anyway, I've spent 2006 ferreting out the most interesting eBay listings, some of which haven't been Paris, Britney or Angelina-related. Really. Here's the 30 worth remembering.

1. Balloon Art Borat (left)
Way better than the sausage dogs you see being made at children's parties. Probably not popular in Kazakhstan, mind.

2. Syd Barrett's Christmas tree
He may have shone like a crazy diamond, but the sadly-late Pink Floyd singer's Chrimbo tree shone like a slightly mad collection of baubles and tinsels.

3. AC/DC's tour bus
No other item of RAWK memorabilia was more desirable this year, and perfect for driving on the Highway To Hell. Or the M25, as it's known in these parts
