Some PS3 sellers are very sensitive in Ebay

From the auction: "Why should I listen to the negativity that other people has to throw at me? Why should I lower my price based on what 10 people think? Who are they to tell me what to do? As far as I know, I live in a country filled with hopes and dreams. I'm proud to live in a country with so much freedom. Why should I give up my hopes, dreams, and freedom, because of people that just want to be hurtful! So I'm going to exceed my own limitations and do what I wanted to do. I'm not being greedy or needy. Like I said, it's a free country so I can do whatever I wish to do. Whether this thing sells for 1,000,000 or a dollar, it's only money. And yes, in the end, this is only a toy with a retail value of $599." Yours for: $1,000,000

eBay: breeding ground for idiots

PS3...?????????????????
Despite the clutter of stupid people bidding and eventually buying all of the shady PlayStation 3 eBay auctions for boxes and random paraphenalia, this one purchase stands far above the others. eBay user takeawildguess23 put up what appears to be a PlayStation 3, to the ignorant of course. See the whole story after the jump.

""You are bidding on the contact information for my friend who acquired a PS3 by waiting in line outside Best Buy for two days in advance. I was there with him the entire time, but already sold mine. He has in his posession a PS3, extra controller, extra charger, three games (Resistance, Madden, and Ridge Racer), and a 2 year replacement plan. Keep in mind that you are not bidding on an actual system, but only the information where you might obtain one. You will be able to contact him and he is very willing to sell if the price is right. The unit is in the Atlanta, GA area and he would be willing to deliver in person if close by. PayPal is the only payment form accepted.""

Oh boy. Sadly, 20 bids were cast on this particular auction. The winning bidder was named digitalbrew1, but I'm wondering if he was high when he placed a bid on this auction. The final price of the PS3 contact information was $1,100 -- what an unfortunate fool. But hey, look at the bright side, shipping is free

Ebay Releases PS3 and Wii Auction Stats

According to eBay, 14,675 PS3s were traded between November 17th through November 24th over its auction service, with the average price of a new PS3 going for $1,186.39.

That number does not take into account all the people who also auctioned off their PS3 pre-sale tickets. Factoring in these numbers as well (13,558 since October 24th) and the grand total of PS3s ransomed online rises to 28,233, with a final eBay average price of $1,369.90 apiece.

Wii, by contrast, had a more restrained showing, at only 26,708 units sold during the week of November 19-24th, with a final average successful bid price of $412.53 per Wii.
